The Society’s 2019 Annual General Meeting will be held on 16 September at the Stevenson Lecture Theatre, British Museum — starting at 5pm. The meeting will be followed by the annual Kirwan Memorial Lecture.

Each autumn the Society invites an eminent scholar to deliver the Kirwan Memorial Lecture, inaugurated in 2000 in honour of the first President of the Society, Sir Laurence Kirwan (1907-1999), whose interest and involvement in Sudanese archaeology spanned 60 years. The 2019 Kirwan Memorial lecturer is Professor Adam Łajtar, Chair of Papyrology, University of Warsaw. The lecture is followed by a reception. More information about the lecture >
