The Churches of Nobadia

This two volume work is the definitive study of the churches of Nobadia, most of which were destroyed during the last century by the dams constructed at Aswan. Professor Adams draws on the work of many fieldworkers, chief among whom are G. S. Mileham and U. Monneret de Villard, as well as contributing significantly from his own excavations of churches in the region. Each church is described in detail and Nobadian churches as a whole are placed in their Nubian context with a brief overview of what we know to date of churches further to the south in Makuria and Alwa. the book is profusely illustrated with plans, elevations and photographs.
